In common language for modern speed measuring instruments frequently terms are used like "radar
trap", "Blitzer", "camera", star box. Here it is to be pointed out that this partial are misleading and the equipment and/or describes its function mode only insufficiently. A cause for this are the different technologies, which can be used during a measurement. At present all measuring methods are used in practice. However it is to be stated particularly in the last years that the radar measurement and the employment of a laser beam intersperse
themselves A further well-known measuring method are the fixed-installed and so-called "star boxes" or "lightning traffic lights", which can be found in the entire German territory. The measurement by video recording is due to the rather small number of according to equipped civilian service cars very improbably and even in the case is it usual practice that the officials punish only the "completely heavy traffic infringements" , a forcing and/or most
substantial speed infringements. Outside of Germany are used almost excluding radar and laser with speed measurements. |
